JOB DESCRIPTION 

The Information Technology Bureau provides NJOHSP with secure, innovative, and reliable technology-based resources, including audio, video, and programming services for in-house applications and geographic information systems products.

As an Analyst Trainee, the selected candidate will manage all technical and operational help desk support to the user community. User community includes both the NJCCIC Division and the expanded internship program supporting up to 200 users.

Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Support staff with issue resolution via testing, troubleshooting and expediting where necessary.
  • Maintain and report on software and hardware inventory for the office.
  • Update inventory list to include new IT purchases (eCID), decommissioned equipment, and licensing.
  • PC/Laptop hardware and software support.
  • Install software onto computers as requested and approved.
  • Responsible for moving equipment when necessary, and in coordination with appropriate staff.
  • Participate in the setup/removal of employee computer assignment and account creation.
  • Provide hardware and software updates and upgrades to the community.
  • Provide supervisor with recommendations and quotes on new hardware purchases, specifically desktop and laptop devices and peripherals.
  • Prepare written workflows for deployment of refresh cycles.
  • Perform rotating on-call nights and weekend coverage for the helpdesk issues arising within the office.
  • Assist with user training as requested and conduct new user IT orientation for each new hire.
  • Assist with setting up user personal and State-issued cell phones and updating inventory listings accordingly.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester-hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.

(1)    Four (4) years of professional experience relevant to the position OR
(2)    Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

Note: “Professional experience” refers to work that is analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range of basic knowledge of the profession’s concepts and practices; and is performed with the authority to act and make accurate and informed decisions.

Advancement: Appointees who successfully complete the 12-month training period will be eligible for advancement to one of the following titles under Civil Service Commission procedures: Analyst Trainee to Administrative Analyst 1. The inability of an employee in this title to attain a level of performance warranting advancement to one of the titles listed above shall be considered as cause for separation.

License: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Preference: Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Network Administration or related field.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Applicants should be aware that all NJOHSP employees must be a U. S. S. citizenship is a requirement for obtaining such clearance.  Additionally, a criminal and personal background investigation is conducted on all NJOHSP personnel.

REMOTE WORK OR ALTERNATE WORKWEEK PROGRAM: NJOHSP currently offers a hybrid work schedule of up to 2 days remote work provided you meet the requirements of NJOHSP’s Pilot Telework Program. NJOHSP also offers a flexible workweek with one day off per week or per pay period.  Approval is based on nature of work and operational needs.

NJ RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS: In accordance with the New Jersey First Act P.L. 2011 c70, effective September 1, 2011, new public employees are required to obtain New Jersey residency within one (1) year of employment.
